Hi,

I am looking for some help with translating from English-German on a personal website.

Anyone know of a private translator?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I can recommend a company called Tradusk, they have done some translations for me and are very reliable with reasonable prices. peter.simon@tradusk.com

Have you looked on fiverr.com? There are lots of translators on there. If it's not urgent or confidential, then this is by far the most cost-effective option.

Note: each "gig" is charged at five dollars, and there is sometimes a fixed charge (eg another $5) on top. So, if a listing says "I will translate 200 words for you", then the rate is $5/200 words. You can usually order multiple gigs. At this rate, 2000 words would cost $50, plus maybe a small fixed charge on top.

I can highly recommend http://www.farago-texte.ch/en/. Although her speciality is translations in the field of life sciences, she has a very broad knowledge and solid experience in a range of areas. A reliable, astute person.

Re: General Website translation needed

Make sure you get a translator with some cultural understanding of the target market, if your website is targeted at the German/Swiss market. Translation prices might be higher but you should invest into a native speaker with some cultural knowledge- I have seen horrendous German translations on webpages!!!
