Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

Hi,

What is the difference between Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse or sei ganz lieb gegrüßt? Is it for close friends or other type of relationship? What about Ganz liebe Grüsse von mir?

Thank you

Re: Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

I shuddered just at the sticky sweetness of it all.
But all three (very similar) would work between lovers, prospective lovers, or female friends maybe?
What is the context?

Re: Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

Thanks for the answer. I saw those from emails sent to my husband from a woman. There was nothing special in the emails. I am just curious.

I get e-mails from female friends and colleagues with the tag "ganz liebi grüess" all the time and have never thought anything of it (and I am very happily married for over 20 years).

Re: Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

Actually those are common greetings among not so close or old friends (or even Lovers), but between acquaintences that are recent or more formal.

Re: Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

I would never read too much into such phrasing myself.
It can be an age thing, or a cultural thing, or just that some people tend to express themselves more 'sweetly' than others.
I have friends male and female who use this sort of terms and others who don't. Nothing to do with the closeness of the relationship.

"sei ganz lieb gegrüßt?"

I`d go for that, or even less at a "pinch"

Sei ganz lieb gegrüsst
old fashioned (sei gegrüsst) and too slimy (ganz lieb), has something of "this person's overdoing it"

Küssli/Schmatz/Bisous
for close friends

Liebe Grüsse
very cordial, normal between friends

Herzliche Grüsse/Herzlich
cordial, for people somewhere between friend and acquaintance status

Freundliche Grüsse
formal, for official letters

Mit freundlichen Grüssen
very formal, for super official letters

Re: Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

If the woman writing to your husband does not write anything special in the email then that is a normal farewell amongst good friends. If you are not sure then talk to your husband and ask who the women are... :-)

Why do you read your husbands emails?

I never read my boyfriends emails or SMS and I hope he does not read mine either. Is indiscreet. If he wants to know something he can ask me personally and he will get the answers.

Re: Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

Any variation of "Liebe Grüsse" indicates friendly terms without a physical component, I also use it in a business environment. I agree on what others have said about slimeyness.

If I was your husband and learned you're reading my mails there'd be a hell of a storm for an extended period. In my mind this is a major breach of trust.

Maybe there has already been a major breach of trust that makes the OP suspicious.

Re: Ganz Viele liebe Grüsse?

There are always emails that we go through together. Often times he calls me to look at his emails. I normally look at the ones that are relevant to me. I have never gone through his emails.
The one I am curious about is so outstanding. It is the emails that people send to each other for 30 times back and forth. Anyone notices it at the first glance. I asked him the same questions I posted here but I was not satisfied with the answer. We have been together for 18 years. This is the first time that I saw such thing.
