German Forum

I think I would like to practice writing in German. I am spending too much time with english speaking foreigners. I would like to find a German Forum. It has to have helpful members. It has to have interesting and useful topics. It has to have some thought provoking and controversial topics. It has to have trolls, and even petulant veterans who have been there too long. It has to have lulz.

Have you happened to see one, or know of a good one?

I troll on several. But I don't know of any that are general topic like the EF. They are more on specific hobbies and things so its best if you google the stuff that you are interested in and want to troll about in German, sign up, and troll away.

I actually wanted to use it to improve writing memos. It would be kind of awkward to learn to use certain inappropriate lingo.

So, ehhh.... what's your user name on that?

Facebook.

I can write German to German-speaking friends, Italian to Italian-speakers, etc.

Even got some Swiss-German from somebody in Canada last night in a biker group.

I get lots of emails in Swiss German. I sometimes struggle but usually reading out loud helps.

One of the problems of having too many SVP friends is that they tend to forget I'm not Swiss. When I remind them of the fact they wave their hands and say "of course you are Swiss". So I guess that's a compliment of sorts.

Anyway, it's more difficult to troll people if you can't speak Swiss German as fast as they can, or you end up accidentally making up words and they ask you to explain.

Actually, politics is my favorite subject. But just about every political thread on EF invariably diverts into Muslim terrorism. Perhaps that should be the new Godwin.

Any political forums in German?

Re: German Forum

An excellent idea Phos - I agree (wow that makes a change ) -

Why could we not have a section here on EF for simple discussion in German, 1 section for French, and 1 for Italian. Would be fun and useful too.

Mods what do you think?
