| | | English-German or French or Swiss German Tandem exchange (Zurich)
Hi everyone,
I'd like to teach German or French or Swiss German in exchange for English to native English-speaking people. We could meet in Zurich once or twice a week. Hope to hear from some interested people soon. I've been teaching German and French for seven years; I know what I'm talking about.
Cheers,
Asterisk

Hi Asterisk,
I'd like to exchange English for German. It's a great idea that we could have fun at the same time. Where can we meet?
See you,

Hi Asterisk and Stardust,
I am also interested in learning German and trading for English. Maybe we could start a small group? Or if not, than asterisk are you willing to meet with me for private tutoring and if so, what is your price?

Hi Megan,
How good is your German? What would you like to focus on (grammar, conversation,....)? I'm fairly good at English, but I'd like to improve my conversational skills. Are you a native English speaker? Where are you from? As I'm on business in Zurich, we could meet there and exchange German for English and have some fun at the same time.
Regards,
Asterisk

Hi Asterisk,
The meeting was great. I didn't know that learning could be such fun as the language courses I attended were so boring. I liked Rapperswil, and I'm looking forward to seeing you next time.
Cheers,
Stardust

Hello,
I am also interested in learning German (and/or Swiss German)....I have taken one class and have been studying on my own, so I'm not exactly a beginner, but I have a long way to go. I would be interested in forming a language exchange, either one-on-one or as a group like some others have suggested. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.
Thanks!! | Quote: | | | | | Hi everyone,

Hi,
I am a native English speaker, and a teacher. I also do manuscript proofreading if anyone needs some writing help. I have been looking for a tandem group to join. I am at a (just barely) B1 level, but struggle with the cases, etc. Is there still space for an additional person on the group? Zürich and Rapperswil are both ok for me.
Regards,
Regan

Hi Asterisk,
I can already understand some Swiss German words. I love Züridütsch; I think the dialect is so sweet, and the jokes were so funny.

Hi Stardust,
'Hä' in Swiss German has nothing to do with laughter, it simply means 'I beg your pardon'. It is as simple as that, and the word is commonly used. 'Hähähä' would refer to laughter.
See you,
Asterisk

Hi Asterisk,
'Mir händ Mais gha' means that they were quarrelling; it's quite different from High German. I'd never have guessed the meaning. Thanks for your useful help.
See you,

Hi Stardust,
You have already improved a great deal;keep on practising. When learning a foreign language, it is important to make a good beginning, but it is also important to have some fun. By being able to speak both German and Swiss German, you can enhance your cultural knowledge, and the Swiss like people who are educated.
Regards,
Asterisk

Unfortunately, I have to go back to the UK. It was great that we met, and thanks for helping me with my German. I hope to be back soon. I love Switzerland.

Are you still looking for language exchange. I'd love to learn to speak Swiss/German to integrate with the Swiss more, and I'd be happy to help with some real English. I have plenty of time on my hands so if you want to explore the possibilities send me a pm.
Cheers

Hi Asterisk,
I'd be really keen to work on my German or Swiss German - did you still want to do a language exchange? I'm a native English speaker moving over in January.
Thanks, Becky
