Swiss-german TV on the internet?

Hello everyone,

I speak German, but don't understand Swiss German. Since we're moving to Zurich soon, I'd like to get some practice.

Anyone know websites that have either video or podcasts in Swiss German?

I've looked at the resources on the "Resources for learning Swiss german" post, and while the books and courses seemed useful, what I'd like is just websites. The searches I've done so far have just turned up some websites that are either very slow or full of errors.

thanks for any advice!
Sylvia

Re: Swiss-german TV on the internet?

How about Swiss Television's own website: www.sf.tv

Here are the podcasts.

Tele Züri is exclusively Zurich dialect.

Re: Swiss-german TV on the internet?

Thanks for the tips, everyone.

Unfortunately Zatoo isn't available for me here in the US.

I checked out the podcasts available on the www.sf.tv - the one I tried listening to was full of pops and clicks - something was wrong with it. Also, the website itself is really slow.

Tele Zuri looks promising - but so far I haven't been able to find any actual video or podcasts. Am I missing something obvious?

thanks!
Sylvia

Click "Web TV" in the menu. The "zum Film" links open a video player window. I'd focus on the ZüriNews and ZüriInfo videos.

Thank you, Nathu! That "zum film" link was what I was missing. Lots of good stuff here...
