language integration courses

is there anything like language integration course in switzerland? in germany you pay 1 euro per hour and you can learn german, intensive course durning day.

in switzerland i could not find anything globally. it's not for me, but for my wife, i could only find this http://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/content/...ionskurse.html

but i'm not sure if she might apply for this, or how much it costs - it only says 100 CHF for resistration, is that it? no more additional costs?

is it possible to start not from first but let's say third semester? i already asked them this questions through mail but no reply so far, so maybe someone from this forums has some experiences

P.S. i will work here in english, so this course is only for my wife, and we will probably live in city of Zurich, and for sure in canton ZH

Re: language integration courses

i mean language integration course that is co-sponsored by canton, i don't think this is the one

i found some prices on https://i-link2.vhszh.ch/BusinessPages/CourseList.aspx but these are courses starting from 18:00 , no point for her, she doesn't work
besides it's not intensive at all, german language courses only once per week

what i mean are integration courses, preferably everyday for few hours, not normal language courses, if someone has some info please let me know

Try this search link ( modify keywords to your needs ).

Use Google Translate to translate words or web pages into major languages.

Good luck.

Re: language integration courses

In Dietikon (ZH), there is intensive German course, 9-11am, every Monday and Friday, started 23.2.2009. and it will finish in June - total 34x2hrs...CHF480. Good thing is that you can bring your child for extra CHF160 (something like childcare is organized).
Cheers!

Re: language integration courses

If you ask at your gemeinde, when / if you have one already. In Zurich they are subsidised, you can join when there are still places available or at beginning of term. They can be a bit slow moving though. You kind of get what you pay for. If you want to learn at a good pace you would be better getting onto an intensive course. Classes are expensive enough here, and the quality of teaching varies enormously from course to course, in my opinion.

There are community courses for women in Luzern, but my friend's
wife said that they are really bad. She changed to Migros after
going to the community ones.

Re: language integration courses

There is EB Zurich, public institution, where the monthly course costs 728 CH (0842843844). There is also another one called ECAP for 780 CH. (0442721243)
They gave me this information at Stadt. It not cheap, but cheaper.

Many communities have courses at low cost and low level for new immigrants, especially asylants. In Bern they are coordinated by
http://www.isabern.ch/ Informationsstelle für Ausländerfragen.

Lots of links on http://www.familientreff.ch/25/

Re: language integration courses

Your wife should go to the Zürich Integration Deparment in Stadelhofen 7, they have a Curse für frauen, and the cost is less than 500 swiss francs per semester. They also offer child care while the mom's are in classes. They will interview your wife to check the level of german she has so she can attend the right class for her. It's a really nice enviroment with good teachers for intense and regular courses, and they have several "german schools" around the city ( i guess maybe other citys/cantons might have these too) Good luck!

Re: language integration courses

Any ideas on ones in basel? I found courses but the start price seems to be around CHF 3000 and that is WAY more than I was hoping to pay.
A guy I play rugby with said the same thing about germany. He paid 1 euro per hour. Wondering if I can learn in Germany than in Lorach.

Re: language integration courses

Hi everyone,

I had already posted this link before for a person looking for a german lessons in Wintethur, but I thought I would post it in this thread too, because ECAP is also in Basel, Bern, Zurich, Luzern, Ticino, Solothurn, Aargau..

Some of them have childcare, some don't have it, it depends on wich kanton, but almost all of them have evening courses (2 times per week), intensive courses (monday to friday) and saturday courses.

Just to give you an idea, in Zurich I attend tuesdays and thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:50 aprox. with a ten minute pause, and the cost for 3 months was about CHF420 (I can't remember exactly) but includes books and CD.

You can check it out in the website http://www.ecap.ch/National/EN/Regionalstellen_en.htm and use http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ to translate it if you have problems:

Voilà
