Hi,
I heard so many people saying 'I'm sure they speak English but they just don't want to make the effort!' ...
misconception.. although lots of people do speak English as a second language, many have difficulties to understand a movie without looking at a subtitle for example (they learnt at school and they tend to forget since they do not live in an English speaking country).
Now, WE are lucky to live in this French speaking place since we are everyday exposed to it, so even without knowing a word of it, our ears become more and more familiar to sounds and intonations.
Teaching a language, even our mother tongue, requires skills, methodologies, patience. Each of us will learn it better in different way. Some will be more visual, some will need to see the words written to memorise them, others will need to hear it. Plus we all have different interests and reasons WHY we want to learn French. How quickly we want to achieve it, how much time you are able or willing to put into achieving our goal.
This is why you might prefer to learn from a reliable teacher which is not there just to teach a specific scheme of work, but who has the ability and flexibility to assess your level and needs and adapt her/his teaching method and objectives to help you really progress in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
ANYONE can learn French with clear objectives, well structured lessons and a good teacher.
I would like to know your opinion on this subject.
Please feel free to share your experience on this thread!
Thanks

.. or should I say 'Merci beaucoup'
