Edit: After some discussion with Nathu, i've decided to edit my OP so as to keep the discussion just to the poll results i hope the poll will show up common interests groups (in this case, learning a common language) which may then be able to organise social events, like museum visits, exhibitions etc...

I'm willing to teach swedish to anyone interested. I guarantee lots of fantastic curses, swearwords and pick-up-lines. And really, what more do you need?

Bad language, sign language, programming language... many categories are missing. But let us not blame Mr Hsiang. His initiative, despite evident naiveté in some of his poll choices, is laudable.

a question for the mods: would it make sense to merge the other posts requesting language partners into this one?

We can give a single sticky thread for tandem and group chat seekers a try. I'm not sure if a poll is a convenient way to let others know one's language combination but together with a reply on the thread it might work. And poll participation should be limited to those who search fellow language learners, else the information will get diluted.
I'd rather not merge existing threads though and the thread needs a better title that clarifies the purpose, so users won't discuss the towel dialect of the language of love
If you create another thread I'll stick it. If I've misunderstood the point of this thread, let me know...

having said that, if there's a sufficient number of chinese learners, i'd be glad to organise something interesting |

Hi everyone! Just for info, there is now a Sticky Thread for folks, who looking for tandem partners, to put up a "Language Partner Wanted" post. There are also some basic guidelines as to what info to include in the post, this way it'd be easier to find a suitable match
have fun!

Hi! There's a group that meets monthly in a restaurant in Zuerich to practise speaking mandarin, if anyone learning mandarin is interested to join in, just drop me a email |

Hello,
Is anyone else learning Rheto-romanic (rumantsch)?
I read my romanic newspaper every day, I would love to talk and exchange more with people from the Engadin region.
