Re: Swiss German to English translations

I'll have a go...

"Omg usgang verpennt. Haha sry a all däne mit däne ich abgmacht han imene monet dänn wieder."
"Oh my god! I forgot about going out. Haha sorry about this [?: someone might be able to provide a more accurate translation for that clause] See you in a month."

Quote:

"Mmmh um di 19. Denki mal. Muen no gnau luege wenni vom opi zrugg bin will er het no knapp 1 monet zläbe."
"Hmmm I think on the 19th. I still have to have a look when I'm back from something, as he has barely one month to live"

That last clause could be meant seriously (in which case, I'm sorry to hear), or in a joking manner (not quite sure how though...). My Swiss German isn't perfect but I hope that helps.

maybe not perfect, but very good

"Oh my god! I forgot about going out. Haha sorry about this"
"sry a all däne mit däne ich abgmacht han.."
"sorry to all those (with those/which/whom?) I have arranged to meet.."

verpenne=verschlafen=to oversleep or as Lewis said "to forget"
my english isn't perfect

opi=Grandfather
edith: just saw the 19/19th...it most probably means "at 7 o'clock pm" 19.00..

"Good, can't complain. Everything is okay with the baby and mum is also ok. What more do you want than everything healthy."

Or some such...

Sounds like someone's had a baby.

Re: Please help Swiss German to English translation

Just out of curiousity:
everything healthy for alli gsund is on purpose? I thought it would be everybody. But I've learnt to be very modest with English style questions, so I am just asking nicely. Perhaps it sounds better in English with everything.

No, you're right. I wouldn't even say "everything" in English. Blame it on the wine...

It could also by a sort of 'by the way' remark implying that he/she should maybe stop writing as he/she should really be doing something else.
