Learning Swiss German with book and DVD 'Chunsch druus' - is it any good?

Is anyone familiar with the book and DVD 'Chunsch druus?' There was an article about it a while back on Swiss info. It's aimed at German speakers, so I wondered just how perfect your German has to be in order to understand it.

It is a good course. Basic German (B1) is enough for you to use it and learn both Hochdeutsch and Schweizerdeutsch.

Any additional feedback in addition to Dack's review a year ago? Thanks!

No additional feedback, but I did go ahead and buy it recently and it's really good. I've only done the first couple of lessons, but I'd definitely recommend it!

Thanks for the responses. I went ahead and ordered it. I'm willing to pay 58 CHF in hopes of understanding more Swiss German.

Re: Learning Swiss German with book and DVD 'Chunsch druus' - is it any good?

I spent the past hour or so working through the first chapter of this book. I think I'm really going to get a lot out of it. I love that there are real life conversations and scenarios that I can play over and over again. These are the kinds of conversations I encounter and get maybe 70-80% of it. With this I can play it over and over until I get the other 20-30%. I also love, love, LOVE that there are transcripts of many of the dialogues with High and Swiss German side by side. I know it's not officially a written language, but as a visual learner, this is TREMENDOUSLY helpful for me.

If you're thinking about giving Swiss German a go. I recommend!

The problem is that, when you've lernt german, you'll see that people on the street speak dialect...

German is more for the letters, documents, etc...

Thanks for reporting back. I knew about this course 18-20 months ago, and almost got it before coming here, but did not.

Considering my almost non-existant SG, I think I'll order as well. Does anyone have any option on the other oft cited SG book for foreigners 'Hoi – your Swiss German survival guide'?

Can you let me know the source from where you order it? Also if B1 is the basic level needed to understand it.

Thanks in advance

You can buy it from Amazon.de (free shipping) for 39 EUR which works out at about 47.25 CHF:

http://www.amazon.de/Chunsch-druus-S.../dp/3194010018

That;s a better price than the CH publisher (58 CHF excluding postage).

http://www.schulverlag.ch/platform/a...artNr=9.278.00

Most ridiculous pricve I've found is 59 GBP (more than 85 CHF!):

http://www.europeanbookshop.com/lang.../m2/c36/6/CHDR

I would think that the course is very difficult if you do not have at least B1 proficiency.
