Re: I am looking to learn Italian in Lugano. Can I get some help?
I moved to Lugano 3 months ago from London. I have studied at the ILI school near the station for the last 2 months and was really unimpressed so I am also looking to change! As you have found out it is REALLY difficult online.
I have been recommended the Migros language school in the centre but I am yet to try it out.
What I would say about ILI is they only seem to care about the money you are paying. They gave me my start date and put me in a class much, much higher than my level (which they tested when I started!). When i complained they argued back that this was my level - trust me it wasn't. I can speak a little and understand practically nothing and this was a class that had been studying for 5 months full time! It was a constant struggle and when I was finally put in my correct level the class was 14 when they promise a maximum of 10. Half the people don't pay as it is where they send the unemployed so you end up being with people who don't care, try and waste alot of time.
For an intensive course you will be looking at around 1000 - 1200 francs a month which (I think) is around 700 - 800 pounds. This doesn't include accomodation or anything but I do know some of the schools do this.
I will try and keep you posted on what I find out as hopefully it will be easier for me being here.
