Short German translation help- rental application?

Hello all,

I am filling in an apartment rental application and cannot figure out the meaning of one sentence . I have attempted to both Leo and Google translate the sentence and individual words, but am still unclear of the intention. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"Besteht auf Ihrem Mobiliar usw. Eigentumsvorbehalt?"

The question appears, among others, under the heading of Heute/Bischerige Wohnung, which I understand to mean Current Residence.

Thanks again!

Is there any retention of title on your furniture, i.e. do you have any furniture that is still property of the seller since you have not yet paid (in full)?

The question is aimed at your credit worthiness.

Martin

Aha... Thanks a lot Martin. Do many people here buy their furniture on credit? Or is that a blanket question about debts overall, for cars, etc?

Shopping on credit has become more common in Switzerland in the last few years, partly as a new business of the banking industry, party because of increasing financial constraints. Furniture stores such as 'Pfister' now even offer their own installment options and credit cards.

'Mobiliar' is usually limited to furniture only. Landlords often ask many very personal questions – simply because they can … I assume the possibility to seize a tenant's furniture (distraint proceedings) is the background of the particular question here.
