I had private German lessons at the Benedict Schule in Luzern.

The school is next to the Luzern Trainstation. You walk out of the trainstation towards the KKL (muesum) and then up the small hill to the car park, there is a small bridge that has a sign pointing to the Benedict school. Also if this is too expensive the Migros also offer Language lessons, you can find information at Migros stores and on the internet.

I learnt the basics of German by getting kids books from a library. The books with objects and the name underneath in German are great.

You might also like to try the English Professionals in the Grendel in Lucerne. I've heard nothing but good reports about them and, despite the name, they also teach other languages. I had a private tutor for about 2 years, very qualified & experienced with an excellent knowledge of the origins and history of English. This helped immensely when trying to understand certain German grammar rules and their English equivalents. I can highly recommend her and her rates were v. reasonable. yeah, in any case don't ask for a private teacher in a school! u get the same service for half price, if u ask them directly.
