German Textbook

I am using the Pimsleur learn German which to learn High German, which is great for learning how to speak, but I'd also like to be able to read and write well, for looking at websites, or sending emails etc. Can anyone recommend a good textbook. As an English teacher I use textbooks like 'Cutting Edge,' and Headway,' with exercises in reading and writing as well as listening and speaking, and they come with a CD. Can anyone recommend me a good equivalent of these for learning German, that is a series of books with different levels, rather than just learning basic phrases.

I'll start classes when I get to Switzerland but I'd like to make a head start before that!

thanks very much, and apologies if someone has already asked this, I did look through the threads and couldn't find anything,
