Intensive French lessons

Hi,

I've been asked by my employer to take an intensive French course over the summer. As I'm a teacher, the summer is my holiday time, so I'm hoping to keep this course to 1 week VERY intensive.
I'm slightly above total beginner level, but not by a great deal.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I can see that Berlitz do a 'total emmersion' 1 week course, which sounds ideal, although seems a little pricey at 6000ChF. Migros don't seem to have anything similar.

Thanks in advance.

Stuart

Re: Intensive French lessons

You might ask migros about private intensive lessons. I took a week of intensive German classes as private lessons a few years back. It was pretty good, but my mind hurt afterwards. ;-)

My lessons were an hour each day, and I found that was pretty challenging. I underlined all the words I didn't know, and looked them up in a dictionary during the afternoon in preparation for the next day's classes.

Re: Intensive French lessons

Thanks for getting back to me. I gave them a call yesterday, and they said that they doubt whether I will get private lessons over the summer, as many of their teachers are away.

Re: Intensive French lessons

Hi, When I 1st got here I went to a language school in Neuchatel which was very good. I think that it would be ideal for you because it meets 4 days a week for 4 hours (after you get done with the homework, and social events it's like speaking French all day- very intense). The 5th day you go and do tours of the region (museums, hikes, and tours which everything is also in French). If I remember correctly they had 4 to 5 different levels of French classes. However, the course I took lasted a little more than a month, good luck.! http://www2.unine.ch/

Re: Intensive French lessons

i learned french since i'm little and i'm fluent in it... so, if you've got any trouble just ask... i tried to learn a third language - spanish in a few months but the course offered only basic spanish and i forgot almost everything, not the sentence structure but the words.. if you think you can learn in one weed intensive, it's for your own good but all languages need practice, be sure to practise so as not to forget.

Re: Intensive French lessons

Hello,

I'm actually a French teacher, and have seen your notice. Since I speak English myself, I could - if you haven't yet had a French course - give you a crash course myself, that would last about a week. Otherwise, I also have an intensive French course (with a class of a few people) but that's three hours a day during 1, 2 or three weeks (but cheaper, since more people will take part).

If you are interested or just want to know more, you can contact me at :

Best!

Yves
