Before anyone asks! Yes, I've googled and searched
I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to move from Zurich to Dublin as I've been accepted on a one year course.
I've called a few companies, but their prices are ridiculous. I've considered renting a furnished flat, but I have a dog and a toddler. (I have images of blueberry stains and paw prints all over some poor person's furniture).
I'm happy to hear any ideas, and yes, I do know Ireland is on shaky ground right now. I've tried to do this course or an equivalent every other possible way, and in the end, my husband is never going to find a job as good as his Swiss one, nor is he ever going to compromise.
I'm willing to take my chances on the Irish economy.

We've had three lots of furniture brought over from Scotland using Pickfords (because Mr.P's company was paying for it), Interdean and Whites, and from what I can remember Interdean were really competitive in their pricing and also very pro-active when it came to keeping in touch with us etc.

Liabiliy insurance for any flat should cover any damage, so I wouldn't worry about that.

If it's only for one year - have you considered leaving your furniture here and buying cheap Ikea/secondhand stuff in Ireland? I think that's likely to work out cheaper than moving everything twice.
