I have done comparisons before over the period of an hour and found that for me, Schwyzer Kantonal Bank was better than UBS, CS, and one other bank in the village. Then when I did the actual exchange I paid .25CHF less because I went to the window and asked for the best rate, I had an account, or the rate had moved (which I later checked and it did not). Not sure which one.
Also I would suggest doing the exchange during the day when the bank is open (vs. bankomat) as you can ask for the exact rate and you see the spread.
Depends where you are going, but some cities have exchange businesses that give better rates than the Swiss banks. You should find this out in advance. I know of some good offices in a couple of cities if you want to PM me where you are going.
An alternative is if you have a brockerage account somewhere in the the world which accepts CHF's and does FX you can do it there, electronically. That way I track the market and try to catch the top end of volatility. Ofcoarse, timing the market is not my forté.
Good luck, hope I covered all options.

In many cases people could be exchanging money directly (of course depending on the amount). Wouldn't a secion in the forum be useful for this?
Typically people coming in would be looking for CHF (as I did), and people going out for Euros, Dollars, or Pounds... Do you think a section for this would make sense?
Oanda is fine. You can exchange almost every currency at market rates (at least 100 pips better than bank rates). More, their Money Transfer platform is quite good: you can send money to anybody and receive money from other accounts under your name.
