I'm interested in hiring a small van to take back some things to Dublin.

I'd like to drop this van into the company in Dublin and leave it there (i.e. not drive it back to CH). Is there such a company that offer this service ?

So, far I have tried Sixt car rental but it's not possible.

...something to do with them having to a) pay a driver to drive the machine back to its country of origin, b) the cost of fuel and road charges in doing this, and then c) the cost of geting the now-transportless driver back home, apparently.

You'd be better considering a part-load on a shipping truck, methinks.

The problem you face is that a) virtually all hire companies in Europe are organised on a national basis, and b) they wouldn't want to be dumped with a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car for their market and c) because CH is not in the EU, the car would have to be returned to CH anyway, or a whole strife of importation incurred.

If you are CH-resident, and are prepared to bring it back to France, you might be able to do something with these folk

Do it in reverse fly to Dublin and drive to CH, return the van to Dublin. A pain but probably easier to arrange.

Obviously depending on the volume, you could try DHL. I believe they have a road transport service but there is a weight limit, so volume ok but weight limited.

Doesn't seem like you can take a van anywhere from Switzerland with a drop off in another country. UGHHHHH
