I've tried searching the forums for an answer to the following query, but didn't find anything relevant. So apologies if this is a repeat. I have searched!!

I am a Brit who's been living in Switzerland for 4 years. My Swiss wife and I have two young kids, and we are planning on moving to the UK to live.

We miss the UK's good weather, low taxes and public transport. ;-)

Does anyone know what I need to do, on the UK side ? Do I register my wife & kids somehow, get them a National Insurance number, etc ?

Any help would be appreciated.

We had a 5 year spell in the UK.

However, I can't remember how my wife got her NI number unfortunately. Maybe uni, or maybe part-time work. It was some time ago.

However I do remember, being of Swiss nationality, she had to 'register' at the Swiss embassy, everytime we moved, very much like here.

Hope she enjoys living in the UK as much as I did (as a Swiss - 40 years)- where are you headed?
I got my NI number through my work - no idea otherwise.
