Bulk-buy my furniture?

Hi all,
I'm leaving Switzerland in 2 months and I'm not taking any of the furniture back to Australia. I'd sell off the items one-by-one on the forum, but that would be a lot of work to move everything.

Are there any second-hand furniture stores that would bulk-buy an apartment worth of furniture? If they could send over a truck and a few guys, it would make my job much easier.

Thanks for looking!

Re: Bulk-buy my furniture?

Any luck with that yet? I know that you said you didn't want to parse out your furniture, but we are looking for a microwave and maybe a wardrobe, if you have either and are interested in selling?

I wondered did you have any luck finding anybody for this? I am in the same situation and it would be good to do it all in one go

There's a second hand place opposite Kaserne in Basel, give them a try maybe.

Re: Bulk-buy my furniture?

I haven't had any luck with this. The brockenhaus around zurich only take donations. They'll send a truck to take everything, but can't pay for it.

Re: Bulk-buy my furniture?

Just do it the EF way ... slowwly ...... as we come to fetch it .... for free.... But only after you`ve posted photos of each and every item, with prices, and full descriptions.

Re: Bulk-buy my furniture?

Does anyone know if there are any services like this in Geneva? I have a lot of stuff I am trying to get rid of, but things like the armoire I don't want to deal with moving myself. A service (or person?) who could pick it up would be wonderful...

Re: Bulk-buy my furniture?

Actually, most commercial brockis seem to expect you to pay them to take away your old furniture. At least that was the case when we moved out of Basel last year.

we are moving to Baden first of Jan 2012 and hoping to move into an apartment by 1st of Feb 2012 (as 'promised' by the relo agent). we would like to bulk buy all furniture/household items if its reasonable and can find means to transport them. I have seen on this forum 'man with van' etc and hopefully we could use such service. buying evrything individually albeit new would be a painful process for us.

Re: Bulk-buy my furniture?

Hey all,

it seems that I will be in similar situation in a couple of weeks. Any idea of where we could donate household items, apart from Brockenhaus, if they are not sold?

Thanks!

Whether or not it is the same in the Deutsch CH I'm no longer sure, but the people wanting to offload their second-hand furniture in the Romandie are perhaps not aware that items can and often are advertised on Ricardo for upwards of CHF1.--
When we have enquired regarding the disposal of furniture/equipment, it has been the case that the sellers are still wanting way over the odds for what is essentially second-hand stuff. The best bet would be to find someone coming into CH and sell the furniture/equipment to them as a bulk sale. There was a chap advertising in Lausanne on EF and at least he had three responses. Or to post the items under "Free stuff" perhaps? That way at least the seller has no transport problems
