I just wanted to post (maybe my last) that I must return to Canada. Highly reluctant decision. I really wanted to stay

Ive been here 7 months now, but could not find an apartment for my needs as well as other logistics. Its complicated. I came here to get diagnosed for a mysterious disease, and the Insel in Bern could not specifically give me a name but its a rare disease so i did make some headway in whats going on.

Just too expensive to live here on a canadian disability income after its converted to swiss francs and subtracted from social assistance numbers.

Ironically my heimatschein just came in the mail last week after trying to get it for the last 7 months. (more red tape)

I wish all of you the best here in Switzerland. Truly a beautiful country and if you have employment and a really good income, then im sure life here is pretty damn good.

Oh, it’s such a shame. I really feel for you.
Have you really exhausted all the possibilities? There are so many knowledgeable people on this forum, who always come up with useful advice. I am always truly amazed how helpful this place can be.

Believe me Ive tried to look at all avenues to stay but there is no logic in it particularly financial, and there is questions as to what may happen in future with unknown disease. Its degenerative nerves but rare. So I have balance issues among others. Thus family begged me to go back home.

If there was a way to stay I would be staying. And I even tried to come up with all sorts of excuses but it didnt prevail. LOL

Who knows, perhaps I will be back and able to work again with plenty of questions and posts on here to keep you all busy . haha.

BTW as far as apartment searching goes, the biggest hangup was all the doorways here are not standard height. Me being 2.05 M doesnt help the situation. Perhaps its the low rental places that have low doorways .
