My Partner is moving from Switzerland to Australia
We need some help in finding a shipping or airfreight company to move approximation 150 - 200kilos(personal house hold items)
We are looking the cheapest possible option to shipping to Australia, time is not a constraint .Planing to move in end of Jan 2012

Possibility cheapest option would be to share space with someone's container, perhaps moving companies may have ideas.

Do you know how much cubic metres you wish to move?

You could also check out the www.post.ch which gives approximation of costs.

I am moving back to Australia in December and the removalist said it would be cheapest if I have a few boxes to do it through the post office.

On a side note - also make sure you check with the airline to see what the cost of extra baggage is. In some cases, it may only cost 50E for an extra bag, which is cheaper than shipping (only helps a bit, but every bit helps!)

I have a friend who sent some boxes to Aussie and it was cheaper to send them from Germany..? just a thought if you are close to the border...

excess baggage to Australia is usually incredibly expensive. Shipping takes about three months. I've only sent stuff from Australia to hear, shipping was about $10 a kilo, air freight was about $25 a kilo, but will also depend where in Australia you are sending it.

you mentioned container shipping, which I have no clue about. All I know is that with Post you can send 20 Kg (max in a box) for 180 CHF, but this is for airmail.

It is totally worthwhile checking out the price for extra bags & the dimensions for this flight ROUTE.

I had a neighbour in UK within about past 12, had a person to stay from either Australia or New Zealand, they flew back from London Heathrow and took all their shopping back with them, that was more than 3 strong hefty people like us could carry between, us so that person got a taxi to the airport. (Feel confident Airport in Switzerland would have similar prices to distant destination)

There were a number of extra bags and was astonished how low the extra baggage cost was - I do not recall how much but very low, - so check it out - price per item and dimensions, weight if applicable & how many extra bags are you allowed to take, maybe worthwhile to send other low weight bulky items by post?

ps: sorry as not sure what you mean by household items, bed sheets versus bed, but no problem!

They probably used "unaccompanied luggage" which is usually very reasonably priced
