UK van rental

Hi all,
After getting quotes I've decided to move my belongings back to the UK myself. However, after Christmas I will already be in the UK so need a company who will let me rent a Bedford van and come collect my things. I have been searching on the net for ages and can't find someone who will let me take a vehicle outside the UK. Does anyone know of a company?

Re: UK van rental

It's one I've mentioned before, but last June I hired a van from Thurrock Van Rental (think that was the name - I can check if you want) to shift me stuff back from Amsterdam to UK....

I'm in Leicester so Thurrock sounds a bit too far away. Cheers for the info tho

Re: UK van rental

Well I've been told for regulations reasons I can't take a Ford Luton outside the UK. The largest van I can take is a long wheel base transit type.

Who's regulations? Is this connected to your driving licence restrictions?

I hired a 7.5 tonne lorry when I moved here from the U.K. and drove it here and then back to the U.K.

Re: UK van rental

you also need to check the mileage limits on hire vans, when we looked it would have quadrupled the hire charge, hiring a huge braked trailer worked out much much cheaper.

Re: UK van rental

We are looking to go to the UK and bring back a 7.5t truck to take all of our stuff back - approx £500 for 7 days. Let me know if you want a list of companies.
