If someone was offering me the same money I'd jump at the chance to work in Belgium instead of Basel (I assume you're talking about Brussels - if not then I retract my comment!).
Couldn't agree more... (Swap Basel with Fribourg)

Oh damn blast and bugger it all to hell. This last Weekend Slammer moved into the new flat.
This morning we get the info that the company has been flogged to a Belgian fortune 500.
So we have been informed that either move to Belgium or.. well do the math.
So Looks like I will not be even unpacking the boxes, just when I thought I would make a stand in CH and have a home, it`s uproot and start again.
Look on the bright side at least the beer is better and cheaper!

Slight OT hijack, but is that stuff Speculoos available here in CH? I thought it was only available in France, and Eastern France at that. Would love to find a jar of that - obviously the crunchy ovalmaltine spread is not fattening enough...

I'd only do it for Flanders. Brussels sucks waffles.

Re: Clouds, silver linings

Brussels and Antwerp are only about 45 Km apart, so you could likely live in/near either town. Depends on your needs for proximity to an airport.

Brussels is one of my favorite food/drink cities in the world. With EU and NATO there, lots of folks with big expense accounts, so can get pricey. But the TGV is there, so good transport options to get out of town.

Good luck! I would prefer it to CH, myself...

That sucks, wouldn't want to live in Belgium either!
Hey, I lived in Antwerp before I came to Zurich and it is the best place I ever lived. I would go back if it wasn't for my Swiss wife.

I wasn't keen on going initially but it was a real hidden gem of a place.

Apparently you can get it in Lausanne. But I wasn't listening. Check here:

Antwerpen is great too. It's actually fckg awesome. But I doubt that someone would be offering the same money.
