Re: Leaving Switzerland: Deregisteration

Hi Nitesh,

I hope you will get well soon.

In Bern, it was a must that the person goes to the gemeinda and tell the reason he is leaving for, example end of contract - separation... etc

You don't need to sign any papers but they need to make sure that you really want to leave it is not that someone is playing games with you.

In your case if your husband is leaving and your Permit is dependent on him, then it is possible that he does this deregistration on your behalf if you write a letter to the gemeinde and send it with your husband, you will also need to handover to him your ID which is the most important thing for them.

If you can attach a doctor statement that you are ill, that will help a lot to make them trust your husband at the gemeinde.

After you de-register, they will give you a paper to use during the rest of your stay as a proof of your legal stay.

Again, I hope you will get well soon and all the best of luck to you in future.

Kind Regards

Re: Leaving Switzerland: Deregisteration

They are very nice at city hall. The issue is that the person who has the work contract is the one that has to deregister. So, if you have the contract, then he won't be able to do it. If it is him, then there won't be a problem.

Good luck and hope you recover quickly!
