Shipping large packages to US or pay extra luggage fee?

Anyone know which is cheaper? Can one ship suitcases btw? Thanks! Leaving Swiss to ny in Aug.

One thing to remember is that you can only take extra luggage on a flight if there is spare capacity....

That depends how heavy the package will be, since you'd be charged according to weight and not size (if shipping it).

The last I checked, extra baggage fees are often about $50 per bag.

Of course you can ship a suitcase, but it would have to be put in a box.

If you're only shipping clothing, shoes, etc..., then I'd go with the luggage option.

I agree, it costs more or less 50$ per luggage but it depends on the airline carrier and your destinations.

Shipping your belongings with a shipping company can be quite expensive...

post.ch has a good description. yesterday we just shipping a box of 29kg to US, and it costs 168chf.

Is the box of 29 kg that you shipped your own box or you need to buy a specific box from the post office in order to get that price? Thank you very much.
