Hi all,

I am moving back to Montreal and I would like to ship some of the stuff I accumulated here with me, but it seems a very tough/expensive proposition.

A) The moving companies are quite expensive, but if anyone would like to share a container that would be great, my shipping date is very flexible from Sept 1st 2012 to mid January 2013.

B) Does anyone know of a do it yourself option: pack everything in a small truck, drive to Le Havre or Rotterdam and put everything myself in the container and do the same in Canada?

C) Any other reasonable option?

Also moving back in September but with flexibility before I need anything in Montreal...

I just asked 3 companies and will see their quotes next week. From our last move ZH to Lausanne 4 years ago, we had 49 sqm in total so I expect it will be too steep to consider. We may decide instead to sell most of the furniture (Ikea) and limit the move to only personal belongings (clothes, books, etc..). still, for a family of 5 I expect nothing less than 12 sqm.

Our situation seems compatible to yours in terms of timing but maybe not for the volume of the stuff to move? If you know how to PM me, please do as I am new to this forum and have not yet figured it out.

Do you plan to move any furniture back ? If yes moving by sea makes sense.
