Re: Tax refund .. Leaving Switzerland by car

you will have to be non-resident when you buy the items. You will then get the forms done and stamped as you exit Switzerland and then declare them on entry to Germany.

Germany has 19% VAT and you will be exposed to paying that. You will get less than 8% returned on you Swiss purchases.

Still interested?

Re: Tax refund .. Leaving Switzerland by car

The way I understand it this is about importing into Switzerland as OP says she will come back by plane, possibly with exception of the car that will remain in Germany.

The means of travel make no difference, with the exception of stuff bought from duty free shops on your way back if applicable.

OP, please clarify, and provide details where necessary.

I don't know of any Swiss MWSt refund. But you need to cross on a manned border, to prove you have exported the items.
yeah i think that, i have to cross the border to get there.

I no longer a resident, but i am also not a resident in Germany and i am leaving from Germany hub do i have to pay VAT as well even though the slip details shows the time, date and the airport? the thing i don't understand the tax refund where its the only thing Swiss are not part of EU and they won't refund. When I travelled to France and left EU to my country through Italy i did it in Italy Airport and didn't have to do it in france but here it has to be Switzerland!!

Because Europe is Europe you can have a tax form stamped anywhere in Europe so show it's left the European area. As Switzerland isn't part of any other economical area.. Guess what.. It has to be done when leaving Switzerland.

OP is you - original poster

Rewind a second.

Are you just a tourist in Switzerland? Always been a tourist?
