Re: Notary service in Zug

I'm going to Kaufmann (they have offices in both Luzern and Baar) tomorrow to get a US document notarized. Will revert with cost.

I went to the UBS, they signed it but then they said they are not offically notaries. I am confused now. What is the difference? Do you think the gemeinde does the same thing?
Many thanks for your responses

Similar to the comments below re: UBS, the "notary" service offered by the attorneys (which cost 50 CHF + 7ish for random hidden fees not otherwise disclosed during the conversation at their office), the "notary" was merely an ink stamp to state that the attorney verified my signature.

The attorney then advised me to go to the Kanton to get an "attestation stamp" for that notarized ink stamp.

I didn't do it, as my particular US entity was willing to accept the simple notary stamp (which was in blue ink and in no way raised), so I'm not sure if I could have saved myself 57CHF just by going to the Kanton and asking them to attest my signature.

The canton will NOT attest your signature, but rather that of the notary, and will cost you another CHF 30 (this is what is known as an aopostilla).

For cheaper, CHF 20 or so, get it notarized at your local communal office.
