Leaving date

Hi all,

I am leaving Switerland at the end of April. My last day in work is the 30 April but as the Friday is a holiday, my apartment handover will be on May 4th (Monday).

When I went in to de-register today, I explained this but I was told that I will have to pay a whole month of health insurance as I will be staying for a few days in May.

One if the girls from my insurance was very nice and told me to put down April 30th as my last day so I don't have to pay the whole month, don't have a lot of cash at the moment so every little helps!

However, what happens if I do this but stay until May 4th? Has anyone any experience of this?

Thanks for any advice!

What passport do you have? Can you be here as a tourist?

Re: Leaving date

You'll be without cover for those few days and if you need emergency or other treatment you'll have to pay the full cost yourself.

I am surprised that they are simply not defaulting to sending you a pro-rated bill, should be about 13% of your monthly coverage.

I suspect not, until you prove you are insured in another country they have 90 days of potential liability in any case....... EU health cards & reciprocal agreements are to blame.

according to my knowledge, you are insured for accidents until 30 days after the employment contract ends.
