AHV Withdrawal

Hi All,

I am leaving Switzerland and have been in my current contract for 11 months.

My assignment was for 12 months but due to some circumstances it is over in 11 months.

I read that I am elegible to claim the AHV amount only if i have contributed for 12 months.

In my case I had contributed for 12 times but not for 12 months(My assignment start was mid of May and end was mid April, so in total contributed for 12 times but less than 365 days).

Please let me know if i would be elegible to claim the AHV amount and if there are any alternatives.

Any help and suggestions in this case would be appreciated

Thanks in advance!!!

Re: AHV Withdrawal

Contact the bank where your Freizugigkeitkonto is and ask for the forms to withdraw the money. That's what I did, no problems there. It's only an issue if it's over 8k or 10k.

Freizuegigkeitkonto is BVG/Pension fund/Pillar 2. Withdrawing from that is "easy"

AHV is Pillar 1. Withdrawing from that is only possible in some special cases.

Re: AHV Withdrawal

Hi,

I have read through most of the details available on withdrawing AHV.

And I know we can withdraw it with a minimum contributions of 12 months.

I wanted to know are there any special cases under which one can withdraw the amount if contributed for 11 months.

Anyone who can guide me with this.

Thanks in advance

Re: AHV Withdrawal

The refund is for 12 contributions...you can ask your company HR for forms for AHV reimbursement. Please keep in mind that only a small portion of the contribution is refunded (~8-10%). And the processing of the same takes around 4-6 months...

Re: AHV Withdrawal

Thanks for the information.
Please let me know if the information stands valid even if the contribution for 12th month is only for 10 days.

The Pensionskasse involved in this case: Pensionskasse changes their mind!

just to clarify, was this Pillar 1 or Pillar 2?

The money that was transferred from the company's Pensionskasse into a Freizügigkeitskonto that the employee opened after the employee left the company.

I've always thought this was Pillar 2 money being moved around.

Re: AHV Withdrawal

This is pillar 1 money. I started on 10th of a month and contributed the AHV for that month.

Its 11 months now and in my 11th month I would contribute for 10 days.

eg. I joined on 10th of July and contributed for 20 days for july in year 2014.
for year 2015 my contract ends on 10th of June. So for this 12th month I contributed just for 10 days.

Can I get the refund of my AHV in this case.?

Sorry I was referring to this case Pensionskasse changes their mind!

I wondered if the pillar in that case on that page was Pillar 1 or Pillar 2.

Unfortunately I am personally unable to answer your refund question. Maybe one of the others can help here.

It looks to me that only contributions longer than 11 months are refunded, so you might have squeezed in!

Duration is fulfilled if the foreign person during more than 11 months of compulsory contribution
was subordinated and
the appropriate contributions have been paid (Art. 1 Para. 1 RV)

Maybe you can visit your local AHV office and ask there?
