Have you moved back to Australia recently? Care to share?

Have you made this move recently? Any recommendations as to moving companies and other things we should be planning for? What positive and negative experiences have you had?

We are looking at moving back down under within the next couple of years. Having been away for more than 5 years now, I am curious to hear from people who have made the move and have the wisdom of hindsight.

Thanks for sharing!

For example, things you wish you had bought in Europe, stuff you wish you'd organised earlier etc.

Any insights are most helpful :-).

Hello. I decided to ditch all furniture and house items and buy them new. Moving is extremely expensive, as we all know.
Crate shipping was most affordable (6-10,OOO for household items, but I didn't want to fuss with the organization of all of that and decided to keep it simple).

I decided to use a company called Sendmybags; you can look up their web site to view their services and prices. I shipped mainly clothes and a few books (personal effects). Their prices were very reasonable for the clothes I had shipped here, and I got to send what I really like to wear and what is most comfortable without having to try to shop for these items again.
Good luck with your move! Cheers!

After shipping numerous clothes here, the biggest advice I could suggest is to make sure you bring the items you use most often- great walking shoes/boots, rain jackets, your favorite jeans and layers, and other warm jackets for the change in temps, and definitely your favorite electronics/gadgets.

Note: If I had taken more time to prepare, I could have reduced the clothes I sent by about 30%. I didn't require as many duplicate items, as I had anticipated.

Best wishes!

Hello. No. We have not moved any furniture because of costs and what we think would be many inconveniences; however, we have a friend who has travelled back and forth between. I will ask him and message you any good advice he may offer.
