I'll be leaving CH permanently

However I haven't received the money from my tax return (year 2008, filled in 2009)
it seems it is normal that it takes quite long time to get your money back, however,
what happens if you leave the country?
Does anybody know or has had any experience on this?

Do they still transfer the money they have to give you back?
Do you have to fill in any document?

Even further, now it is jan 2010, can I still request taxes back for last year giving that I was taxed and I would have got some money back if I were still living in CH?

I got my tax back in cash at the office in Zürich when I left for Australia.

Can you explain how you did this ? It seems one has to fill out a Power of Attorney form. Is there another way ?

Was there a waiting period between when you finished work and when you could collect your tax return?

I am in the same situation (initial assessment from my tax person is I owed monies for 2008 and 2009) as I am leaving in a few months back to the UK. When I asked my tax person I was told I have to wait for official confirmation from the local authorities which takes up to eighteen months from submission. Then the company who do your taxes will contact you and ask how to deposit the funds - I'm assuming you will then need to keep open a Swiss bank account until this is fully closed.

When I dropped Gemeinde for de-registration office lady asked me about tax accoundant for filing 2010,2011 tax.
Fortunately, my company provided PWC tax consultant contact for me.
But I doubt how long does it take...last year I fiiled tax on March and got refund Oct.
