Disassembling Ikea Furniture

Hi everyone,

I am moving out from Switzerland during the summer and I am looking for some info regarding Ikea furniture.
I would like to transport my furniture and store it elsewhere but the only way would be by unmounting it.
Does anybody know if Ikea provides any unmounting service? Can I hire a person to come and do this for me since I won't be able to do it myself?

Thanks in advance

Re: Unmounting Ikea Furniture

I can't imagine that IKEA would provide such a service, but when I moved using a moving company, the movers did it for me. I don't know how complicated your furniture is, but it shouldn't be too hard if you have a drill with a reverse screwdriver setting, and then you put all the screws into a plastic ziploc bag and tape it to one of the pieces or to the manual

It's a long way from me.

As Mr Bertrand say's, it is quite easy, a deep breath, a friend with a sense of humour, a screwdriver and a plastic bag is all you need

It's the putting it back together and it staying together that is the problem.

A to all those overzealous screwers out there.

Ahem! I meant () most of Ikeas "furniture" is in mdf, if you screw screws too hard, tightly, to far in... you will damage the hole and be unable to start over again.

Oh never mind.

Re: Disassembling Ikea Furniture

i think the OP stated that he can't do it (for whatever reason).
What are potential options:
- go to IKEA and ask one of the employees if they'd do it after work in exchange of money.
- put an ad in any Migros or Coop.
- ask students (they look for money) in your building, neighbourhood
- ask the local grocery if he knows someone
- post an ad in EF: looking for someone to unmount IKEA furniture

important is that you should be in the apartment when the work is done.
As you are going to pay, I think it won't be a problem to find someone.
