I don't know how much stuff you have, but for a simple vanload StephenR did an outstanding job for me from Basel to Manchester.

it's a two bedroom flat with furniture etc and will need help with disassembling stuff too!

I am actually trying to do the reverse as I've just started working in Geneva.
I'm planning to bring a transit van over from the UK to here in early July (3rd-17th depending on me sorting out a driver).
Where are you going from and to? Could you have your stuff packed by 10th July or is that too early?
I would be happy to split all costs down the middle (van, ferry, diesel, tolls and driver wages) as I'm going to pay a friend to do it for me.

As yet I have nothing concrete but I know that the removal firm I had a quote from was too much for my liking.

Since posting my update yesterday about having an empty van going back to the UK, one kind member pointed me in the direction of a website called www.shiply.com which has since solved my logistics issue.
This is a great website that allows you to enter the following information:
What's to be moved
Pick up location
Drop off location
Moving dates

From this, they post the job on their website and then removal companies 'bid' on the job, so you are free to pick the cheapest quote.
As each company completes a job, the customer is free to provide feedback on the quality of the service they received (al la eBay) so you can see how many positive, neutral or negative feedbacks they've had in the last 12 months.

My quote has gone down from £1400 with the Luker brothers to £665 through a company on Shiply.com.

As someone in the industry, please be careful when choosing who moves your belongings. Your normal courier/haulage insurance does not cover for removal work and many who offer this service through such sites do not have the correct insurances as it is extremely expensive. Also with countries outside of the EU, special customs documentation is required, which again costs money, and knowledge of doing the formalities is often lacking which can have serious repercussions if this is not followed to the letter.

£665 really is far to cheap for any professional company to charge, unless they are co-loading it with another two loads. Buyer beware!!

I don't wish this to sound as an advertisement, however I am always happy to offer advice on this subject.

I used Pelichet coming out. V good - using them to go back too.
My friend recently went back to the UK and used Harsch/Hersch. He had a pretty bad experience with them...

We are moving with Luker Brothers. They have just finished packing and it has gone very well so far. I think that their quote was pretty reasonable to move our 3 bed flat. I will let you know how it goes...

We used Luker Brothers moving here, they were very good (and not too pricey - 1000 GBP for an "austere" three bed flat)
They were extremely professional, yet friendly, everything was handled well (only a couple of dents in a cot bed).
