| Re: Moving Advice for leaving Switzerland?
April, what is your nationality ? If you have a EU passport you shouldn't need major paperwork to enter Spain. If you don't, make sure you triple-check your country's VISA agreement standing with Spain, as they could very well stop you at the border and have you turn around. You can leave the country with NO paperwork done at all, except you should always:
1) De-register
2) Pay off any and all debts
3) Remember to cancel all services you have hired (cable, phone, internet, Bilag, insurance, cell phone, etc)
4) Since you are moving INTO the EU, Spain will require a whole bunch of documents to accept your importing so many household goods. Chances are that, since they are used and they are your household items, you won't pay any type of tax. Nonetheless the paperwork needs to be done. These requirements you should look for in a Spanish website, not on the Swiss end.
5) Super important if you ever want to go back to Switzerland: give them a forwarding address for them to send you your closing income tax statement.
Moving company: I have moved internationally with Grabel once, and with Ward van Lines twice. I like Ward, but they might be expensive. If you are seriously thinking about moving on your own, I think I remember Hertz having moving trucks. About the same size as U-Hauls.
Hope this helps a bit.
