Questions on leaving Switzerland with debts.

Hi All,

I had a question regarding leaving Switzerland while you still have debts here.

I'm not planning to ditch my debts, I would like to have them sent to the Uk or to pay from the UK, as i have a great job offer I really want to accept.

My debts are with the Betreibungsamt and before I ask them (and then have them take my passport or something) I was looking for some advice on the subject.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards

Rich

Re: Questions on leaving Switzerland with debts.

Just have them mail it to your new adress, or pay online

Re: Questions on leaving Switzerland with debts.

Two choices

1. If you have a good friend, who trusts you and whom you can trust, give his/her address as change of address in the post office. Ask your friend to write your name in a piece of paper and paste it in his/her post box. So whatever mails come to you will get forward there. Let your friend pay the bills and you can transfer money to his account.

Currently I am doing this job for one of our friends family, who left 2 months before. Yesterday paid their IWB, Nebokosten, Cablecom and few other bills.

2. Give your UK address as the new postal address in the post office (they will charge some amount). Get the bills directly to your new home and pay it.

If the Betreibungsamt (debt collection office) is already involved, you may face problem doing a proper deregistration - I think.... simply skimpering may worsen the problem... No chance you can pay it off before you leave?
