In this case, it's perhaps best to call and ask first.
  • I assume you will have to take:
  • passport
  • Permit card (B or whatever)
  • That piece of paper that shows your address that they give you (in the plastic sleeve).
But take their word for it, not mine.... I'm still here in Switzerland.

Same place you registered .
Except they moved in the meantime.

Address for the Cantonal office:

http://maps.google.ch/maps?oe=utf-8&...ed=0CBcQnwIwAA

It is in the Flon area of Lausanne.

Not sure of everything you will need but good to go with your passport, permit, new address/forwarding address details. You will need to fill in a form with some of these items.

They will know for sure, so I seriously wouldn't take any other advice other than theirs. Just call them and tell them that you're leaving.

Otherwise you will have to make two trips there (with whatever you forgot the first time).

As for the plastic sleeved thing, sorry mate, that maybe just a Zurich thing. When you register your address they hand you a sheet of paper that has your address on it, with the 'stdat' stamp on it and some signatures, just saying that you are registered to live there.

The plastic card probably trumps everything (the pink permit card).

Re: leaving switzerland....need advice

You will need to present with the following documents at your community:
residence permit (B/C whatever),
certificate of residency (that would be the mentioned piece of paper in plastic cover)
passport (or ID card also possible for EU/EFTA citizens)

You will also want to call the tax authority to get information how to proceed regarding taxes for 2010 and any potential tax debit/credit for past years.

I hope this helps..

OK so now I just think you're taking the piss....
How the hell did you get into this country?

Firstly, they don't have to speak English because this is Switzerland.
Secondly, if you can't speak, then just go down there and take what you have with you.
You may fluke it.

If you don't have a residency permit (in the plastic slip) just take a phone or electricity bill with you or something that can identify your name and the address that you live in.

Re: leaving switzerland....need advice

Go in person. Why should anyone on this forum make calls for you?
Both times I've had to go in Lausanne I've started talking in my disasterous French and they have interrupted me to say they speak english They've been wonderfully friendly and helpful and have solved many of my problems first time (you might want to go in with a friendly smile and not the attitude in your 'I hate switzerland' post ). Take everything you think you might need and suck it up and go again if there is something additional that you forgot.
If all of the above is too difficult you might want to get your HR department to make a call for you.

So you're one of those people who've been managing our money? Good to see standards are so high at these companies.

Re: leaving switzerland....need advice

Wow, someone is on PMS...Maybe you should take all your papers with you and just go to that place. Maybe somebody speaks English there (or maybe they don't want to, this is possible also) and they will help you.
PS: This is what happens when you don't know the basic words in the lanbguage of the community you are living in. It makes things difficult for you, what if you you need something important and nobody speaks English... that sucks right? Oh wait, this is happening right now, in your case.
Good luck!
