I have a Polish student who doesn't have a PC. Where can she buy Polish books in the ZH area?

There are so many resources online for students of Polish origin - a small investment in a PC and internet connectivity will save her lots of CHFs in buying books.

Thanks but she is not interested in getting a PC....just the books She's in her thirties and learning English with me. I offered to look for her.

She can go to any public library or internet case and use the computer there to order the polish books, and get them delivered here to her Swiss address. 'Tis not rocket science.

I doubt any of the main bookstores here carry Polish books in any significant number (if at all, I can't see a reason for them to personally) and the best bet is online. Can she not use your PC to order them?

I''m Polish, but I'm not living in/around ZRH. What kind of books does she need? I don't have much, but perhaps I could help.

I'm sure she'd find plenty of people willing to give away or exchange books, but it might be difficult to use it without a computer.

I am also Polish and living in Zurich area. Unfortunately there is no Polish bookstore in Zurich or in Switzerland for that matter. I have some Polish books at home not many but maybe I could help with sth.

The places to buy - I think Internet shops only and shipping from Poland. The shipping of 9 comic books costed about 2.5CHF per item for airmail.

May not be the same case, but I go as follows when buying Spanish books:

1. Go to amazon.com or other well know Spanish books sellers
2. Search by title and save the ISBN from the books I want
3. Search for ISBN in amazon.de, amazon.com.uk, and bookdepository.co.uk

Amazon doesn't carry almost any Polish langugage books in its inventory. That's neither English nor Spanish with all the implications.

What I am planning to do in the long run is getting an e-reader, e.g. Amazon Kindle, and get the classics for my kids for which copyrights have already expired.

What kind of Polish books are you looking for? Anything that's in Polish (novels, travel etc.) or text books?

If she can access a PC once and awhile, she could get some Polish books through www.bookmooch.com . You can ask for books from many countries and in many languages. It works on a points system and just costs you postage on the books you send out.
