Soldering Iron?

Hi there,

So does anybody know where I can find buy a cheap soldering iron in Basel?

I have tried Media Markt but they don't seem to sell any. I guess it would have to be a shop selling basic electric components or something.

Cheers for the help!

Re: Soldering Iron?

Migros.

Got a cheap one there years ago, they still sell them.

If I need I good one, I borrow one from work, though generally if I need a good one, I do it AT work!

Migros also sells propane fired soldering irons (I have one of those as well), great for when on the road!

Re: Soldering Iron?

Just to confirm - bought one last weekend in Obi at M Parc. As you go in through the DIY entrance (not gardening), they are in the far right wall, just opposite the "help" station in the electrical goods bit.

In town you can also get them at Tschopp (just down from the Heuwagge tram stop), the are on the second level middle display facing the wall (i.e. not window side).

Lowest price c25 CHF.

Re: Soldering Iron?

Thanks again for the input, I went to Tschopp at Heuwaage, the cheapest one was 37fr, the cheapest at Obi was about 30-35fr and the cheapest one I found in Jumbo and I didn't find any at Migros.

At Jumbo there was a 15W one for 20fr or 20W for 23fr so I took the 20W. I was finally able to replace that guitar pickup thanks to you

Re: Soldering Iron?

Just FYI for those of you in Zurich:

Sure, you can get a soldering iron at Migros (and yes, I mean Migros, not Obi -- bigger ones carry soldering gear) or whatever. But for components, you need a real electronics place. Sure, Conrad is great and there's one out in Dietlikon. But if you actually need advice, check out a true old-school electronics shop. There's only one in Zurich any more: Pusterla. (Ignore the prehistoric website and go in person.)
