manicure/pedicure possibilities in Bern?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place in Bern to get cheap manicures or pedicures, meaning less than 50 francs for each. Based on the places I've asked, it seems as though it would cost me at least 100 francs for both- which seems an outrageous price, even for Switzerland. Perhaps I'm not looking at the right places.

I'm not too hopeful about this but perhaps someone will take a crack at it because I have some serious toe fro going on and I'm not too good with utensils.

Thanks!

Oh boy. I'm not sure if this previous message/question is for real, but if it is I can play an important role in educating a poor soul on the joy of foot and hand care. If it is a joke or a subtle criticism of my writing capabilities, then I will have wasted my time, which, I'm starting to think I have anyway.

A manicure is "getting your nails done" (on your hands), and a pedicure is "getting your toenails done", complete with clipping, filing, nail polish, maybe some scrubbing with a loofah, and a five-minute hand and foot massage if you're lucky...

Sorry for being snarky, I'm tired and desperately wanting to wear sandals. I work so hard here but I don't feel like I can afford what normal Swiss people can. Boo hoo for me, right? I guess I should head on over to the Complaints Corner.

Re: manicure/pedicure possibilities in Bern?

Hello,
I think CHF 100.- is too high, even though you asked in Bern.
I myself is a nail tech in Lucerne and around here most of the salons offers "Maniküre" between CHF 35.- and 50.- depending on the services.
If it's more than CHF 100.- nail techs you met might have misunderstood with nail enhancement with gel or powder & liquid, which is more common than manicure here.

As I am away from Bern, I don't know any nail techs in Bern personally.
But from the HP of professional organization, I found a well-qualified nail tech in Kanton Bern.

http://www.nailboxbelp.ch/index.html
Her service of SPA manicure costs 60.-, it's a bit expensive. :-(

http://www.atelier-lilo.ch/preisliste.html
This one is much cheaper, trainee prises are much lower, but I don't know their skills and qualification.

Did you already try www.search.ch with words such as "Maniküre" "Nagelbehandlung" "Nagellack"?

I hope you can find a good salon soon!

Re: manicure/pedicure possibilities in Bern?

I got a pedicure in Bern for 48 CHF as part of a summer/August special at a salon on Länggasse... manicures are also the same price I believe until the end of the month. It was a nice pedicure by a professional, not a student. The person to call to make an appointment is Marianne Messerli, 0794265491.

Re: manicure/pedicure possibilities in Bern?

I've tried this place in Bern on Spitalgasse before called the Art of Beauty (http://www.artofbeauty-bern.ch/).

They charge 45CHF for a manicure and its run by twin sisters who speak limited English. Whilst I speak no German, both parties manage to communicate just fine and on the past 2 occasions, I've left pretty pleased with the results. They are really professional and take the time to ascertain what you want. Good luck!
