Ordering seeds/plants online

I am trying to get into doing some container gardening on my balcony, and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with ordering seeds online. I have visited some sites recommended by gardening sites and they are mostly US-based. Would I be able to order seeds from outside Switzerland or would there be trouble bringing them in here? If I can't order them from a US based site, does anyone know of any good sites based more locally that I could order from? Thanks!

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but you have seen the large display of seeds in your local garden centre I assume?
You don't say what it is you want to grow and, yes, I suppose if you are planting a very large area, you might want to order online, in which case I have no idea about sites since I've never ordered this way.
All I can say is that, seeds don't cost much, you end up with far too many little plants from one pack, and then you have to play god, deciding which of them live, and which get composted.

Ha ha yes I have seen the seed displays and they are quite nice! I am sure I will likely be able to get everything I want there, but this is just in case there is anything I can't find at the store or shops around town. I just figured the info would be handy to know in case I need it in the future

I had a few packets of seeds and bulbs sent to me for my birthday from UK. They got through customs OK i.e without being opened, but maybe you wont be so lucky if you are planning on ordering a lot. Also it was marked as a 'gift' so probably why they didn't touch it.
Had a quick look on Google and came across this website in CH...not sure if it's of any use to you, they seem to sell seeds? Good Luck!

Hi,
You can not import "everything your want", but everything you want that is allowed...

Look on the french page (google translate it but dont change language on the site, the link will disappear) and look for "importation de plante).

Careful with the term "gift" in German it means "poison" although they can probably guess from a English speaking country you only need one retard in the post office to take your parcel to bits.
