| | | Single for a year now - close to giving up!
Hey so, some of you may remember that last year I broke up with my Swiss g/f and wasn't sure if I should stay or not...well I did.
I've managed to turn a big corner and have made lots of new friends and discovered many cool new venues and restaurants (i'm more of a student-y type really).
However, I have not had anywhere near the same success with dating. The few dates I've had have all resulted in me literally shaking my head and going away with the opinion that Swiss girls must all be a bit crackers. Surely this can't be true?!
I'm at the point where I'm wondering if that will ever change what with culture/language issues but am happy for a lovely Swiss girl to prove me wrong.
Please PM me if you're interested in proving anglo/swiss relations are still healthy. Or, actually anglo/worldwide relations are also encouraged.
PS I'm hoping to win points for my straight-forward, no nonsense talking | | The following 3 users would like to thank Paulie707 for this useful post: | | | This user groans at Paulie707 for this post:

....... You tried on the Swiss girls for a year?
You don't deserve a Swiss girl, you deserve a medal of honour
(.... or a German girl.... German girls are AWESOME)

As for being close to giving up because it's been a year... don't worry. One year of being single is not that bad.

When I lived in California in the 90's, I felt the same about some of the flaky bronzed Barbie-types that I met and decided, that as an ex-pat, I had more in common with people leading a similar life to me, than with the natives.
So it was like a breath of fresh air when I met my now Swiss wife.
Problem is - I'm now in Switzerland.
Anyway celibacy can have it's perks ................ | | The following 6 users would like to thank TiMow for this useful post:

Only one year? Amateur. Sounds like one of those bad Hollywood movies where the protagonist has to give up sex for 30 days and nearly has an aneurysm.

Perhaps you should settle for an unlovely Swiss girl.
There is no excuse for being single if you don't want to be. Sometimes your standards are just set too high, suffering from disillusionment or you're just looking for the wrong person. Leave all your prejudices at the door, and maybe someone who would initially seem totally wrong for you, might be right!

I’ve realized there’s a different time frame for everything in Switzerland compared to the rest of Europe (it sure pertains to both official and private spheres). If you’ve been single for a year, that’s just a month in British terms.

You need to stop telling women you dont believe in Pre-Marital sex.... That turns them off. | Quote: | | | | | Hey so, some of you may remember that last year I broke up with my Swiss g/f and wasn't sure if I should stay or not...well I did.

I find this extremely disillusioned. Is anyone perfect? If you find the perfect person, will they accept you if you're not perfect (because if you are perfect, you wouldn't have any problems finding the perfect mate).
Sure there's nothing wrong about persuing perfection or having high standards, but it kinda nullifies your deservced right to complain that you're not finding anyone after a year.
