Are knives legal in Switzerland? WEAPON LAWS

So I fancy myself a bit of a ninja, and being from Australia, I have a nice collection of throwing knives, however I didn't bring them to Switzerland because I was unsure of the legalities. I noticed however that some shops sell butterfly knives, which are very illegal in Australia.

So does anyone know whether throwing knives are legal here and if a license is required?

I'm in the Aargau canton, if that matters.

All I know is, that if you're in the Swiss Army, you can carry a pocket knife - provided you're in the cavalry and only buy wine without a screw-cap.

Alas, unless you are one-armed, swichblades and butterlies are illegal here since the mid '90s or so (I have several switch-blades at home, which is legal, you just can't carry them anymore)

Pity, they made great steak knives for camping!

I have a set of steak knives and no one has ever harassed me about them. Although I did buy them off a dodgy Albanian guy named Hurk.

He told me if I snitched he would kill me...... But with all the spying the neighbors do I think they would have reported it by now if it were illegal.

If all else fails tell them your collection is all steak knives.

If you own a knife with a fixed blade it might be a weapon, and you might need a license for the weapon.

all sales and loans of weapons must have a written contract.

Re: Are knives legal in Switzerland? WEAPON LAWS

that puzzles me...the law mentions as weapon only symmetrical blades shorter than 30 cm. That means that a sword is not a weapon
