Re: Carrefour Mulhouse, has anyone been?

I have been to both Cora and Carrefour and I prefer Carrefour. I think the store brand is a better value than Cora. Both are good and worth a trip to stock up on items that are super overpriced in CH.

Re: Carrefour Mulhouse, has anyone been?

I went to this supermarket yesterday as my husband was going that way for work for the day. Read the forum first to see where to go (such a wealth of information on this site.....thank you!).
I tried putting the address into the GPS but couldn't find it as I thought it was Mulhouse but it's actually Illzach. The drive took 1hr 40mins from Zug. We were stopped at the border going into France but not stopped coming back into Switzerland.
The Carrefour is easily accessible - Junc 20 off the A36. I wish I had thought to go to this place last year when I had all the family for Christmas. It would have been worth doing regular trips there to buy our 2kg meat each visit! The supermarket is hypermarket style selling electrical, games, home goods etc as well as a good variety of food. Nice to be able to buy some French items for Christmas.
The Masons Du Monde had a nice selection of Christmas decorations but didn't seem to have as many other things as I have found previously in their stores. Maybe it is just the Christmas focus. Other stores looked interesting for clothing and shoes. But for me, it was great to be able to buy some French wine and food.
Hope this helps someone who is heading this way as well.
Cheers
Lyn

May I ask the reason to visit the butcher over there ?

Have you seen this, or tried or compared ?

I am big steak fan and trying to find the best option around. I have already tried coop fine food and some local butchers. Me myself never tried Luma actually

I generally don't shop abroad - I merely shop when I'm abroad (if that makes sense). Last time I was in Mulhouse I was buying a lot of wine for a party and hence it was worthwhile doing the weekly meat shop at Davide's. The meat is of exceptional quality (award winning) and like for like is much cheaper than here (where I normally shop at Bleicher in Monchaltorf for meat).

I've not ordered from Luma - but their prices are steep. I pay 120chf for filet and 2,80 for a Bratwurst. I am sure the quality is good - but it is a step too far on price for me.

Hi we recently holidayed in North Spain and shopped at the french supermarket Carrefour, we were amazed at the amount of UK/International grocery products they had. Have done a little searching and found that I think the nearest to us is in Mulhouse, has anyone tried it out, or regularly shop here? Is it worth the trip, maybe the Spanish one was stocked for the holidaymaker market, but just thought would find out if anyone else has been first.

They were well priced on things like Robinsons diluting juice, British Cumberland Sausages, Cheeses, Condiments etc.
I don't know about Mulhouse but have been to several Spanish ones and did't really see what there was to be excited about. I didn't see much British stuff and the Spanish stuff was more expensive and looked less appetising than from local Spanish sellers, including the farmer's market just down the road (where we ended up doing most of our shopping). We also bought some bed linen and it turned out it was damaged. To their credit they gave us a refund without too much of a fuss, but it was still a waste of our precious holiday time. And overall it left us wondering what it is people like about that store. To me it feels like a more expensive version of Lidl.

There is a man, far far away who would not appreciate those comments. A legend who now has 4 KFC restaurants within walking distance of his condo.
