Anybody know anything about getting rid of fouine.....

(ferrety type things) we've got a couple under the roof of our house and apparently as they're not somewhere that you can get into its not possible for most of the pest controllers to catch them and move them on........

any ideas i'd be really really really greatful!

They are also a problem getting into the engine compartment of cars and eating throught the plastic and rubber pipes. You can get a can of repellant at car accessory shops and maybe this will do it.

Re: Anybody know anything about getting rid of fouine.....

I might try the repelland cause at this stage i'll try anything!

I got a couple of those sonar plugs - supposed to work on rats and mice but that has had no effect!

There are a good few cats around but i think the fact that the fouine are nearly as big as the cats its a no go area......

....and, if you have a car, make sure you also spray the engine compartment as will do a lot of damage if the get in there. It's happened to me twice.

Hi there, I had a visit from one of those (Beech Marten or in German, Stein Marder) about three months ago, the little sod kept coming into my cellar, (I still have no idea how or where!!!?) talk about a mess!! It even chewed the bottom of the old wooden door to pieces

I looked it up on the net at the time and found several possible solutions....

Some suggested spreading dog hair all around the area, others swore by leaving a radio on all night as well as getting a Halogen lamp and leaving that on all night.....

Of course, if as you say it's not easy access, any or all may or mayn't be applicable in your situation.

What worked for me was rubbing peppermint oil all over the place, leaving the tissues in the room as well. For the door I smeared clove oil all around the area it had been munching on.

It smelled like a dental clinic in there, but I can tell you,,,, it only came back once more and have never had any visitations since..

Good luck and hope this helps,,, let us know how you get on won't you,,,,

Ros

For some areas you can use mesh on your drive.
The wee buggers don't like to cross it.

Dunno if you can use this technique elsewhere...
