Ikea return policy

I'm just back from Ikea with a baby gate which is a bit too tall( yes I did measure but didn't account for those screwy things to be so high)so back I must go..urghh.
Q, I can't find the receipt and the plastic wrapping it came in is in tatters. Can you get a refund with no receipt? I did use my family card to get a discount so proof of purchase may be on there?
I'm not overly keen on going back for nothing.
And I'll probably end up with 20 other things I never knew I needed..
Thanks for any help!

Unwrapped with receipt often means you will get a refund but with a certain amount deducted. With no receipt I have to say that in my experience this really depends on the customer service person who helps you. Why not just try and sell it on the forum, with the name and link to the Ikea page you never know who might need one and be happy to save themselves a trip to Ikea.

Re: Ikea return policy

So .... you're 50 chufs down (not too bad); no wrapper, and no receipt = no guaranteed refund.

Offer it for sale, on EF, Ricardo, E-bay, or whatever, at a reduced price and see what happens.

Otherwise keep it and an alternative use or position may turn up - I use one in the hall to stop the dog roaming around the house when he's wet.

Re: Ikea return policy

I bought some photo frames at IKEA today and would like to exchange them for different ones. I have the receipt and they are 100% unopened. Will it be straight forward?

What's a family card? I've seen cheaper prices for some stuff if you have one, but I'm a sad loser with no family here.

Don't need a family Just fill a form on the computer booth at the top of the entrance escalator. It will print out a redish credit card sized card with your name and number. Flash the card and get as many free coffees as you want.

Also while purchasing IKEA stuff you can show them the card and they will scan it, you won't get any discount but if you break any item while going home it will be covered by family card insurance.

Additionally there is a small section near the plant area where family card entitles you to some discount. Rubbish stuff nothing special though.

Re: Ikea return policy

Another Ikea return question. I have to return something (screw piece was not made properly and it won't hold together) with a receipt. Can I return it to a different (and closer) Ikea (both are in Switzerland).

Re: Ikea return policy

Well, I showed up at a IKEA store, different from where I purchased and they took back the item without hesitation.
