Is September 11th a holiday in Zurich??????

Hello all, I am travelling to Zurich this week and was wondering if next monday (11th) is a regular working day in Zurich.

I am a consultant for Credit Suisse and would like to know if I would have to work on that date.

I've found info about knabenschiessen but I can not tell for sure if it is a bank holiday or not.

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

thanks,

Re: Is September 11th a holiday in Zurich??????

Officially it is a half-day holiday, but only for those in town-Zurich, not the surrounding areas. In a large company such as CS some will simply choose to work in the afternoon (good chance to get stuff done with less interuption), and others may take the entire day off, since it will only cost them half a day of leave.

If you are an external consultant then whether or not it is a holiday for you might depend on the work you have to do - if you have to meet with people then you may find many of them not there in the afternoon. Best to check with the people you are working with to ask them whether or not it would be useful you to come in - results may vary within the organisation.

Knabenschiessen is an official half day holiday in Zürich - don't expect too m many people to pick up the phone in the office after 12:00.
