I have been using Moleskin notebooks now for some time (just love the paper) and have been buying these in the UK whenever possible. Unfortunately I am now nearing the end of life of my current one and I am in need of a new notebook. Globus is selling these for >30 CHF which is nearly double of what I used to pay in London. Anyone knows a place in Zürich where these notebooks are sold for less?

I order them off Ebay, even with delivery they are about 50% off RRP.

As above or check out www.toppreise.ch or www.preissuchmaschine.ch and search for moleskine. Obviously there are dozens of different notebooks, but there should be better rates available than at Globus for sure..

They sell them at Orell-Fusseli, but they're about 2x the usual price which is, I guess, consistent with the book prices...but, they have them. I do think they're less than 30 chf though.

Fnac also sell them. You are probably better off buying them online.

I got my last lot from Amazon.

I actually prefer taking a paper notebook to meetings then a laptop or smartphone for taking notes. Takings notes/actions is for me a lot faster on paper and the handwriting helps me to memorise actions/decisions. Plus it does not require batteries, is on instantly and is superlight compared to carrying a laptop around.

Yes. Long-term I don't think this is great news. From memory, the BD guys were the ones who set up Amazon's UK website a few years ago. They then decided to set up their own site.

A bit off-topic for this thread but I didn't realise that although postage is free in the Book depository, the price of the books is different for different countries.

And, for the random sample I tried, Switzerland was cheaper than Germany.

Could it be since the UK and DE are part of the EU that BD has to charge the VAT? Since CH is not part of the EU, we get VAT free pricing?

Good point. And the rest of the price differential seems to be based on postage costs (i.e U.K. is cheaper than here).

Still, good value and as they ship one book at a time, no customs costs or hold-ups.
