| I'm not 100% sure of which one I need though ... Looks like one is designed for a permanent move out and the others for more temporary moves.
It's strange that you can choose to pay either 20CHF plus 5CHF per week or just a one off 40CHF. I'd guess you'd need your "I'm leaving the country for good" document to get the latter. I'll investigate further and report back. | |

I understand it goes as follows:
The first option in the list (
Redirection order when moving to a new address) you use because you're moving, so would no longer be able to receive mail at the old address.
The second option (
Temporary redirection order) is for if you want to redirect your post temporarily, but are not actually moving (e.g. if you go on holiday or something and don't want to miss important post). I guess they charge more because you're not actually moving so would still be able to receive mail at your original address, so it's seen as a higher level of service.
The third option (
Permanent forwarding) is to continue either of the first two options beyond 12 months.
From what i remember, you need ID to prove you're the person at the original address whose post is being redirected. But you don't have to prove you live at the redirect address (at least, not for the UK - that kind of document doesn't exist in the UK anyway, until you actually live there and have received bills etc.!)
